Itinerary
Here is a detailed itinerary for the Gokyo Lake Trek:
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu Arrive in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Transfer to your hotel, rest, and prepare for the trek. You can explore the vibrant streets of Kathmandu and visit cultural sites.
Day 2: Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2,610m/8,562ft) Take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. Begin trekking towards Phakding, a small village located alongside the Dudh Koshi River. Overnight stay in Phakding.
Day 3: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,286ft) Continue trekking along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridges and passing through pine forests. Reach Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa town and commercial hub of the region. Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.
Day 4: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar Spend a day in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization. Take a short hike to the Everest View Hotel for panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and other peaks. Explore the Sherpa culture and visit the Sherpa Museum. Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.
Day 5: Trek to Phortse Thanga (3,680m/12,073ft) Resume trekking, descending through forests and passing by several small villages. Reach Phortse Thanga, a small settlement surrounded by lush green landscapes. Overnight stay in Phortse Thanga.
Day 6: Trek to Machhermo (4,410m/14,468ft) Continue ascending along the Dudh Koshi River. Pass through rhododendron and pine forests, enjoying the views of snow-capped peaks. Reach Machhermo, a small village with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Overnight stay in Machhermo.
Day 7: Trek to Gokyo (4,790m/15,715ft) Trek alongside the Dudh Koshi River, passing through small settlements and yak pastures. Arrive at Gokyo, a picturesque village located near the stunning Gokyo Lakes. Overnight stay in Gokyo.
Day 8: Hike to Gokyo Ri (5,357m/17,575ft) and Explore Gokyo Lakes Early morning hike to Gokyo Ri for breathtaking panoramic views of Everest, Cho Oyu, and other peaks. Explore the Gokyo Lakes, a series of six glacial lakes known for their mesmerizing turquoise color. Overnight stay in Gokyo.
Day 9: Trek to Dole (4,200m/13,780ft) Descend from Gokyo and retrace your steps back to Dole, passing through Machhermo and Phortse Thanga. Enjoy the views of the mountains and the serene landscapes. Overnight stay in Dole.
Day 10: Trek to Namche Bazaar Resume trekking, descending through forests and passing by small settlements. Reach Namche Bazaar, where you can celebrate the completion of the trek with your team and local guides. Overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.
Day 11: Trek to Lukla Continue descending and cross suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. Trek back
to Lukla, where you can relax and reflect on your journey. Overnight stay in Lukla.
Day 12: Fly back to Kathmandu Take an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Rest and relax in Kathmandu, and enjoy some leisure time. You can explore the city, shop for souvenirs, or visit cultural sites.
